Monash Doctors Surgery has developed into a truly multicultural Family General Practice offering both male and female doctors with extensive cultural and linguistic diversity. Some of the languages spoken by our doctors include Tamil, Italian and Malayalam.

Dr Tony Lucarelli

MBBS (Hons) FRACGP

Dr Lucarelli has over 26 years experience in General Medicine. He was educated at Monash University and founded Monash Doctors Surgery in 1995 where he has worked full time with a team of experienced and caring doctors including Dr Shyamala Thurairajah and Dr Shyamen Wickramasinghe.

Dr Lucarelli’s special interests include Preventative health checks, Diabetes, Men’s Health, Paediatrics and Travel Medicine. He speaks fluent Italian. Dr Lucarelli is also a member of the teaching staff at Monash University where he tutors medical students in the Faculty of Medicine.

Dr Shyamala Thurairajah (Dr Rajah)

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Shyamala Thurairajah (Dr Rajah) has worked at Monash Doctors Surgery since its inception in 1995. Dr Rajah graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, India, 1990. She obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2002.

Dr Rajah is a very experienced Medical practitioner with special interests in Paediatrics, Women’s Health, Pap Smear, Travel Medicine, Chronic Disease Management and Antenatal care.

Dr Rajah speaks Tamil

Dr Rajah works at the practice on:

  • Mondays to Thursdays 8am to 2.30pm,
  • Friday 8.30am to 12.30pm
  • Alternate Saturdays; and
  • Sundays 9am- 12pm.

Dr Vijayanandam Jayaraman (Dr Vijay)

MBBS, MD, DCH, FRACGP, MRCGP (UK)

Dr Vijayanandam Jayaraman (Dr Vijay) graduated with Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Madras University India in 1985. He then completed his Diploma in Children Health in 1991 followed by Medical Doctor in General Medicine in 1998. After graduating he worked in various facilities in India before moving to United Kingdom in 2000 where he continued to practice until 2013 when he decided to move to Australia. Dr Vijay commenced his Australian practice in August 2013 and has since worked in General Practice. Dr Vijay is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

Dr Vijay performs minor procedures like Skin Checks, Skin Excisions, Minor Surgery, Joint Injection-Shoulder/Knee/Elbow. He also carries out Pap smear, Implanon Insertion/removal, Antenatal Checkups, Child Immunisation, Neonatal & 6 weeks check-ups amongst other general medicine.

He has special interests Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension and Drug Abuse.

Dr Vijay speaks Tamil.

Dr Sangeetha Anna Varghese

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Sangeetha Anna Varghese graduated with Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from University of Kerala, India in 1999. She then completed her Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DGO) from Rajiv Gandhi University, Karnataka, India in 2004. She was awarded her Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2012.

She commenced her medical career in 1999 in Kerala India and continued working across several facilities in India until 2004 before moving to Australia. She commenced her Australian medical career in 2006 in Gold Coast Hospital and has since worked across several facilities including General Practice.

Dr Sangeetha has special interests in Women’s Health, Mental Health, Children Health and Chronic Medical Conditions.

Dr Sangeetha speaks Malayalam.
